EXPOSURE
by
Nikolle Doolin
Elaine slid her hands along the sinuous curves of the sandstone
wall that nature built and time eroded. Yes, she stroked the
edge
of a continent on a new world. A curious thrill ran through
her
body--so pale and uncorrupted by the aggressive Auralian sun.
Elaine
would have to return to the ship soon--before she became
overexposed. So, she stood wrapped in a warm cocoon of
sunlight
in order to store it up. “This heats my soul,” she
thought.
Suddenly, the timer beeped and interrupted her bliss. She
took
one last look, then disappeared back into the ship.
