RESISTANCE
by
Nikolle Doolin
Jenna felt weightless and became increasingly unaware of her body and
its processes to sustain her life. She was more like the
swirling heat of her coffee -- dancing towards the ceiling.
When she hit the cool, flat surface up above her body, Jenna’s
consciousness had once again wandered outside. She was
unafraid of it now and welcomed the moment. The escape was
liberating.
She gazed at her still form below and wondered, “What if I just slipped
away?” The thought was enticing. Yet, she felt her
body tug at her to return. Jenna resisted and began to drift
far away.
